After the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Marvel is now focused on promoting the next MCU movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth will return as the God of Thunder alongside Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Guardians of the Galaxy. The public will also be able to discover a brand new villain, Gorr the Butcher of the Gods which will be brought to the screen by Christian Bale. For the moment, Marvel has unveiled a first trailer for this fourth part of the adventures of Thor without showing it to us.
A devastated familiar place
Today it’s a new exclusive photo for Love and Thunder which has just been published in the magazine Entertainment Weekly in order to offer us a new look at Chris Hemsworth’s return as Thor wielding his mighty Stormbreaker.
Along with a glimpse of the Thunder God’s full battle suit, the photo also shows us a place totally destroyed and engulfed in flames that is well known by fans of the MCU. In fact, it is New Asgard.
After the events in Endgame, Thor decides to join the Guardians of the Galaxy and it is Valkyrie who takes over the status of King of Asgard. However, since the end of the Infinity Saga, we know nothing of the fate of the city. Much mystery surrounds, for the time being, the scenario of Love and Thunder. So we don’t know why New Asgard finds itself in such a state, but it’s a safe bet that Gorr the Butcher of the Gods is no stranger to it..
It’s about same place that is shown stealthily at the very end of the trailer when Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) appears on screen. The latter would therefore have been called by the New Asgardians to come to their aid.
We just hope that with the release of Love and Thunder who is approaching, Marvel will reveal new official information about the film. There’s not much time left to wait because Thor: Love and Thunder is slated for theaters on July 13.
