The Rings of Power: Here's Which Battles Could Feature in Amazon's Lord of the Rings Series

Series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is expected on September 2 on Amazon Prime Video. Created by John D. Payne and Patrick McKay, this show will take place during the Second Age of Middle-earth. In particular carried by Morfydd Clark and Markella Kavenagh, the series could stage many battles emblematic of the universe of Tolkien. Here are 7 battles that we could discover in the show:

The Siege of Eregion

The Headquarters of Eregion is the very first battle between the Elves and the army of Sauron. Following Sauron’s failure to corrupt the Dwarves and Elves, Celebrimbor, the elf who forged the three elven rings, prevent these powerful artifacts from falling into the hands of Lord Sauron. The latter then decides to massively attack the kingdom of the elves of Eregion. A battle full of rage that leads to the victory of the evil forces of Sauron.

First siege of Imladris

When Celebrimbor died, who refuses to give the location of the three elven rings despite Sauron’s repeated tortures, the latter himself goes in search of the artifacts. He sends a contingent of Orcs in Rivendell, who confronts the forces of Elrond. Sauron’s Orcs are routed by combined might troops of Elrond and Gil-galad, joined by survivors from Eregion. Rivendell is a key location in both Peter Jackson franchises: The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Since this kingdom is established during the Second Age, there is a good chance that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power reuses this iconic fortress.

The Battle of Gwathlo

This is the final battle between the Elves and Sauron. The Battle of Gwathlo ends in an almost definitive defeat of the Dark Lord, whose forces were almost completely annihilated. The Battle of Gwathlo then pushes Sauron to withdraw to the lands of Mordor. The latter spends the next millennium rebuilding himself and forming an all-new army to rule Middle-earth.

The Conquest of Minas Ithil

After the fall of Numenor and the renewal of Sauron’s forces, the Dark Lord launches a new attack to conquer Middle-earth. So he decides to attack Minas Ithil, a fortress built by Isildur to thwart Sauron. Despite its purpose, Minas Ithil is overwhelmed by the dark forces, and is largely annihilated by them. However, Isildur and his kin manage to escape, taking part of the White Tree with them, which then reappears in The king’s return.

Sindarin’s Defense

After Sauron’s victory, the men of Gondor fortify their defenses of Sindarin, which was the capital of Gondor at the time. Sindarin was then successfully defended when Sauron attempts to bring her down. After a long battle won by the forces of good, the survivors decide to create the Last Alliance of Elves and Men. A faction that has managed to unite the clan of Dwarves, Men and Elves.

The Battle of Dagorlad

Leading the fight to Mordor, the Last Alliance engages against Sauron’s army in the plains of Dagorlad. The fight continues until in front of the Black Door until the victory of the Last Alliance. The battle, however, was extremely costly for the forces of good, including the deaths of two elven leaders: Oropher and Amdir.

The Siege of the Dark Tower

This is the climax of the War of the Last Alliance. The Siege of the Dark Tower is a heated confrontation between the Last Alliance and the forces of Sauron at the foot of the Dark Lord’s fortress. A cult battle presented in the prologue of The Fellowship of the Ring, where Sauron still has a humanoid form. Logically, the series produced by Amazon Prime Video could make it possible to develop this confrontation more deeply, which leads to the failure of the Last Alliance to destroy the Ring of Power.
