Star Wars: this fan theory on the secret marriage between Anakin and Padmé confirmed

Over the years, the immense universe of Star Wars continues to grow through new projects. The opportunity for fans to discover new aspects of the lore or to deepen others. Recently, for example, a very popular theory was confirmed regarding the secret marriage between Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala.

!!! SPOILERS for the Star Wars: Brotherhood novel!!!

A new novel in the universe Star Wars

As many, you have probably discovered the phenomenon Star Wars through the film saga initiated by George Lucas in 1977, whether through his original trilogy, his prelogy or his postlogy. But the thing is, even if you’ve seen all nine main films, you only know a small part of its lore.

Because, like most popular franchises, you need to dive into all the projects surrounding Star Wars if you want to capture the smallest details. Waiting for the Disney+ series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi which will finally land at the end of the month, the author Mike Chen also offers youdiscover more about the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin but much earlier, during the Clone Wars.

Since yesterday in the United States and from May 16 at home, his novel Star Wars: Brotherhood (literally “fraternity”) indeed lingers on the famous duo. He promises some crisp revelations, in particular concerning the marriage between the young Skywalker and Padmé Amidala. In effect, he confirms that Obi-Wan knew about this union but decided not to say anything.

The discovery of Anakin and Padmé’s secret

During approximately 350 pages, the novel Star Wars: Brotherhood dwells on many elements hitherto only mentioned or overlooked in the Clone Wars. But as its name suggests, above all, it deepens the brotherly relationship between Obi-Wan Kenobi and his padawan. Or rather his former padawan, since the novel makes us relive Anakin’s obtaining the rank of Jedi Knight. It is also just after the ceremony that he meets Padmé in the corridors of the Jedi temple, where they exchange a knowing moment out of sight of curious eyes… Except for Obi-Wan’s who actually witnessed the whole scene.

If we could think that the Jedi master only suspects an adventure, we learn thathe is well and truly aware of the marriage uniting the couple in secret. If he could have tried to reason with Anakin by explaining to him that he is straying from the right path (torn between his Jedi duty and his love for the senator) or talk about it to the Jedi Council, he decides to keep this information to himself, for good reason. Indeed, this forbidden union sends him back to his own love for Duchess Satine Kryze, seen in Star Wars: Clone Wars. The situation was forbidden there too, but Obi-Wan was ready to abandon his duty for love. Eventually their relationship ended and the Jedi never knew how to get rid of the regrets associated with it.

It was for this reason that he never confronted Anakin about it, even in private, so as not to make him experience the same thing and let him enjoy his love story. A beautiful proof of fraternity presented to us by this novel Star Wars: Brotherhood.
