And while the series Star Wars will be available on Disney+ As of the end of the month, McGregor recently spoke during the series premiere, reflecting on his previous films.

The star of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi then defended the Star Wars prequels decried by some, explaining how his relationship with these films had changed. The British actor is best known for portraying a younger version of the Jedi Master, originally played by Alec Guinness in the original trilogy. McGregor will then play Obi-Wan during the entire prelogy, from 1999 to 2005.
And although these films were hugely successful at the box office, they were poorly received by some of the critics. at the time. Although there has been some critical appreciation since the release of the prequel, the only film to be received mostly positively from critics and fans remains Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005), evidenced by this classification of the three trilogies recently presented.
Since then, McGregor had stayed away from the franchisebut he will sign his great return in the universe initially created by George Lucas with the series Obi-Wan Kenobi. This series will thus make the link between the prelogy and the original trilogy, following the adventures of the Jedi Master after he settled on Tatooine to watch over Luke, the young son of Anakin Skywalker aka Darth Vader, allowing actor Hayden Christensen to also return to the franchise.
On Twitter, a user posted a video of an interview with the actor, alongside Moses Ingram (who will play Reva the Inquisitor) and Christensen at the series premiere Obi-Wan Kenobi. McGregor then shared his feelings about the prelogy, leading the actor to explain how his relationship with the Star Wars films evolved.

While he admitted it was “difficult” to see the films in question being so criticized despite the passion invested in their making, the actor confessed that he ended up enjoying them more, especially Episode III , especially since the generation of children who grew up with it was finally able to express their love for the prelogy. You were a kid when our movies came out. We kind of made them for you, and it was an amazing experience to make those movies. When you enter this world, it is not nothing. It’s scary. These films were not very appreciated by the critics…
What we didn’t hear at the time were people your age, your generation. Today, these people really like our films, but it took us 15 years to hear that. It’s really nice and it changed my relationship with Star Wars I think, which is different now. We really put our heart and soul into those movies, and they were tough to make. There were so many green and blue backgrounds, because George was pushing us into this new realm that he had designed, that he was in charge of. He wanted to exploit this technology as much as possible, but for us that meant that we were very often on green and blue screens, and it was hard work.
To do that and to do it in a passionate way, only to see that the films weren’t well received, that was really hard. So it’s very nice to have this new relationship with them now. I had not seen these films since their release. In preparation for the series, I watched them again, and it was pretty cool. I like them, and Episode III was a really good movie.
And McGregor’s idea makes some sense. Because although the Star Wars films are designed to appeal to the general public, McGregor suggests that it is young people who form the basis of this trilogy’s true target. Because according to him, at the time of the release of the prelogy, the children who had appreciated and grown up with the original trilogy had become adults, and were no longer in the right state of mind to receive what George Lucas offered them. And in a way it can be found todaywith some of those kids who loved the prelogy, going through the exact same thing with the release of the postlogy.
If we can always compare the different trilogies between them, or on the contrary appreciate them in relation to their whole, there’s no denying that the prequel obviously managed to capture the imagination of an entire generationand that’s probably what McGregor’s new performance is aiming for with the next series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
