the new adventures of han and chewie

In the original trilogy of Star Wars, the mystery surrounding Han Solo’s past and how he teamed up with Chewbacca to become a notorious smuggler before joining the Rebel Alliance helped make him a cult figure. In the decades since his debut in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977), audiences learned a handful of details about the character’s backstory, which could sometimes conflict.

But the last published Marvel comics, titled Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca #1, released in March this year and directed by Marc Guggenheim and drawn by David Messinaoffered brand new insight into his past. This new comic series takes place between the events from the movie Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and Star Wars: A New Hope.

We then find Han and Chewie, teaming up with Greedo in order to carry out a mission entrusted by the Lord of crime Jabba the Hutt. While Han Solo is having a drink in a bar, he comes to discuss his origins with a stranger. Solo notably addresses the subject of his father, then confirming his name, and who would therefore be called Ovan.

a major revelation

After the release of the original trilogy Star Wars, a series of novels and comics, better known as the Star Wars Expanded Universe (or Star Wars Extended Universe), continued the adventures of iconic characters, including Han Solo. But when Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012many of these adventures were no longer considered canon, allowing Han Solo to largely reinvent himself.

The film Solo: A Star Wars Story We had then confirmed that Han was apparently an orphan, and that his name was assigned to him by the Empire when he was recruited into the Imperial army as a pilot. However, the pilot knew that his father had worked building Corellian freighters, similar to what would become the Millennium Falcon..

But in addition to confirming Han’s father’s first name, the comic makes an unexpected revelation on the last page of the issue, suggesting to readers that the stranger to whom Han Solo tells his past is none other than Han’s father himself. It is quite possible that the next issue of Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca continues this scene and confirms whether or not this character actually turns out to be Han’s father, or if this is a scheme set up to use the pilot.

To find out, we will have to wait for the rest of the comics. Star Wars: Han Solo & Chewbacca. And to continue in the same theme, discover this secret history between Vader and Han Solojust here.
