Pixel War: Internet users go completely crazy to defend France on Reddit

If you’ve been on Twitter or Reddit, you might have noticed some pretty weird hashtag trending. These are the #RedditPlace as well as the #PixelWar. What is it about ? We explain to you !

A social interactive experience that turns confrontational

To understand, you have to go back to April 1, 2017 when a funny experiment was launched on Reddit: the RedditPlace. An initiative launched by Josh Wardle, to whom we owe the Wordle game which consisted of create a huge online canvas where each participant from around the world can place a pixel.

Five years later, the operation is back! And the least we can say is that the RedditPlace is growing. Indeed, if the initiative was originally to demonstrate that it was possible to collaborate with Internet users around the world, this time the RedditPlace turns to an unlikely war between different countries.

This weekend, one of the main French streamers, Kameto, has decided to mobilize French Internet users so that they participate in the idea but not only to pose a simple pixel. No, so that France invades this canvas by displaying our colors there. Thus, following Kameto’s call and relayed by other influencers such as Squeezie, Locklear, Inoxtag or HugoDécrypte, their fan communities mobilized to create in part of the canvas a tricolor flag on which the Eiffel Tower was represented.

And the patriotic operation transformed over the hours into a confrontation against other foreign Internet users. Indeed, at the sight of the French colors on this immense fresco, American and Spanish influencers tried to sabotage the work created by the French.

For example, the Spaniards transformed Notre-Dame de Paris which had been represented by adding pixels to it for show her burning.

During the night, it was the English who decided to cover the French flag with a pair of buttocks. Finally, the French community managed to catch up by replacing the buttocks with an Arc de Tripomphe surmounted by a crescent.

Faced with these destructions of works, Kameto has even entered into negotiations with other foreign streamers !

Eric Zemmour congratulates patriotic Internet users

On his side, Eric Zemmour, candidate of the Reconquest party for the presidential election, did not hesitate to share the initiative from RedditPlace on its Twitter account, congratulating French Internet users who “defend our beautiful tricolor flag on Reddit“. Adding that “the Reconquest is also done on Reddit” and inviting to register to place a pixel and defend our colors.

A tweet that was not necessarily to everyone’s taste because there are many who consider that the candidate makes political recovery.

There is always that the RedditPlace continues until 4 p.m. today. Then, the work will be immortalized. Let’s wait to see if France will manage to keep its flag intact!
