After six particularly brilliant seasons, Peaky Blinders bowed out in a final that was explosive to say the least. While the most patient French fans await the broadcast of the final season on Netflix from June 10, we will emphasize how much this series counted for a lot, revealing the quality of writing of its showrunner, Steven Knight, and the immense talent of its interpreterswith first and foremost the immense Cillian Murphy, who will soon be found in Christopher Nolan’s next film.

Since the release of the first episode of Peaky Blinders in 2013, the British screenwriter has become a safe bet, and has multiplied ambitious projects for the small screen : taboo in 2017 (whose second season is desperately awaited), See for AppleTV+ or A Christmas Carol, first part of an anthology adapting the greatest masterpieces of Charles Dickens, and which will continue with The great expectations.

To celebrate the end of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knight has lifted the veil on one of his most ambitious projects: SAS: Rogue Heroes. A series produced by the BBC, taking place during the Second World War, and of which he has just unveiled the first trailer.

Announced since 2019, this free adaptation of the book Rogue Heroes: The History of the SAS, Britain’s Secret Special Forces Unit That Sabotaged the Nazis and Changed the Nature of War by Ben Macintyre will immerse us in the daily life of members of the Special Air Service, a special unit of the British army created in 1941 in Egyptand which multiplied the most audacious raids, and whose motto was: “Who Dares Wins” (in French, “Who dare win“).

This six-episode miniseries will feature Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy in Game Of Thrones), Connor Swindells (Sex Education), Jack O’Connell (This is England, Skins), Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: Secret Service) or illustrated Dominic West (Jimmy McNulty in TheWire).

Note that the mini-series, scheduled for fall 2022, will not be the only work by Steven Knight taking place during the Second World War. In effect, the screenwriter from Birmingham has announced that he is working on a film Peaky Blinders, whose story will unfold during this turbulent period. Besides, he is also working on a series in collaboration with the legendary Ridley Scott (Gladiator, blade runner, The fall of the Black Falcon), proposing an innovative narrative to tell this conflict. We recall that this will be the third collaboration between Knight and Scott.
