Netflix continues to stretch the literature of Harlan Coben, one of the masters of Thriller. After Intimidation which has been highly appreciated to the point of ranking among the most viewed films of the moment, this new drama is in turn integrated into the top 10, which confirms the enthusiasm of subscribers for writer’s adaptations.

The exploitation of the works of the novelist Harlan Coben continues on the side of Netflix. The contract established between Netflix and the master of the thriller established in 2018 which allowed the streaming platform to adapt 14 his works goes on even more. After Intimidation who monopolized the top of the rankings for a while, here is Without a word, the sixth adaptation of Harlan Coben on Netflix. You don’t change a formula that works. Without a word takes place in Poland, in an affluent suburb of Warsaw where the inhabitants have created a real tight-knit community. While they led a peaceful life, everything is going to be turned upside down when the young 18-year-old Adam disappears without a trace. As the threats mount, worried parents will do what they can to protect their children who, on the verge of becoming adults, have decided to take matters into their own hands.

Without a word is originally a novel published in 2009 which bears the original title of Hold tight. This free adaptation transposed in Poland was written by Agata Malesinska and Wojciech Miloszewski, already at work on the adaptation of In the woods. To please everyone, this adaptation remains very faithful to the original material. Thus, very little change is made, and those familiar with the original novel are unlikely to discover much.
This is the second time that Netflix is heading to Poland to adapt one of Harlan Coben’s writings. We know that the platform has for several years adopted a strategy of internationalization of its productions, thanks to massive investments in original content, particularly in Europe. And that which pays off. We have seen it with the successes of Lupine (France), Dark (Germany), or Money Heist (Spain).
