Netflix: after Birdbox, this chilling post-apocalyptic film is a huge success

Regularly, we offer films that are very successful on Netflix. Despite its rich catalog, it is true that the platform often relies on similar genres, such as thrillers, action films or thrillers. And it’s not this new feature film that will make you think otherwise, since it mixes a bit of all that.

Action and suspense: a recipe that works

It’s always difficult to know what to watch on an SVOD platform like Netflix, and choosing the content is usually what takes the most time. In an attempt to guide you, we have therefore chosen to talk to you abouta post-apocalyptic thriller that is currently a hit on the platform. “One again ?”, we will say some. But the fact is Black Crabsuch is its name, has a lot of arguments to put forward in its favor. Indeed, if you are sensitive to films which know how to set an atmosphere, find the right balance between action for the general public and more intimate moments, but also which offer an obvious parallel with our reality, then you should give this Swedish film a chance.

Available since March 18, Black Crab continues to squat the Top 10 Movies on Netflix, and recently became top trending. It features Noomi Rapace (the trilogy Millennium, Prometheus) in the skin of‘a soldier who must “carry secret cargo across a frozen sea” for “end an apocalyptic war and save his daughter”. The nearly two-hour feature film, directed by Adam Berg, takes place in a country with a freezing climate whose name and location are unknown, but it will inevitably bring to mind the conflict currently raging between Russia and Ukraine.

Black Crab : an explosive and intimate film about the war

Black Crab having obviously been shot earlier, the comparison with the current war will stop here. Because in this film not recommended for children under 16, the issue is actually much more personal. Thus, if Caroline Edh (Noomi Rapace) is accompanied by a commando of five men in order to transport a secret weapon to the enemy, her first goal is to find her daughter, who was reportedly seen in a refugee camp. The very strong relationship she has with her is also regularly discussed through flashbacks of a bygone era: the war has been wreaking havoc for several years now.

We won’t tell you more about this feature film, which we invite you to discover for yourself. Let us just allow ourselves to specify thatit is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Jerker Virdborg, published twenty years ago. The transposition of this work to the screen is in any case a visual success and certain plans and ideas of realization should undoubtedly seduce you, while you will follow Caroline and her companions skating, in every sense of the word, to achieve their ends.

Black Crab is currently available on Netflix.
