I think they say in the show thate Steven really woke up for good about two years ago. This is the first time the two Quirks have started living separately, and it was after the death of Marc’s mother. So that was the last two years, and we’re guessing the previous three years were sort of Marc’s (…) Kind of like Hawkeye who operated as Ronin because the criminal underworld was going wild during the period blip, I guess Moon Knight was also very busy. But it was all in the shadows, and he was taking down many threats that never surfaced or saw the light of day again.
Although there are background details referring to the snap, Moon Knight differentiates itself from other projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by being a more stand-alone story, focusing on establishing its hero more than connecting it to a larger continuity.
