Marvel: this Doctor Strange weapon is even more terrifying than his magical powers

A few days ago, we presented this new version of the Sorcerer Supreme far too gory for the mcu. Today, recent developments have also shown that if Doctor Strange was best known for his supernatural powershe also has an arsenal with some of the most formidable weapons.

a fearsome weapon

As a Master of the Mystical Arts, Doctor Strange is known for his magical powers and supernatural skills, but he also possesses several iconic artifacts. Many will then think of the Cloak of Levitation, allowing him to fly through the air, but purists will also think of the Eye of Agamotto. And among his artifacts, there seems to be a weapon capable of defeating the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe.

In the comics The Thing #5released in early March this year, directed by Walter Mosley and drawn by Tom Reilly, we find the Thing, one of the Fantastic Four, in the company of a woman named Amaryllis Dejure and a young boy named Bobby Spector. The three characters then find themselves suddenly teleported to “the Blue Area of the Moon” (lit.: the blue zone of the moon), and are confronted by an army of riot robots as well as a trio of villains: the Faceless One, Terrax (aka Tyros) and the Berserker.

While the three protagonists separate, Terrax pursues Amaryllis who fled on his side. But during the chase, Terrax insults the young woman, which is enough to make her stop and confront him. The latter then admits that she was ready to let him live, and when Terrax approaches, amused by the threats of the young woman, Amaryllis grabs her dagger and sticks it in Terrax’s body..

We then learn that she would have received the weapon from Doctor Strange, and thus reveals to us what it is really capable of. Amaryllis therefore explains what is happening, so that readers, but also Terrax, are well aware of the effects of the dagger: “At first, it tickles. But when I let go of the handle, the blade splits into a thousand shoots that pierce every part of your body”.

And while Terrax does not seem to understand what she is saying, he suddenly seems to strike with immense pain, ending with an ellipsis where we understand that the former herald of Galactus has been defeated. Because indeed, Terrax is indeed a former herald of Galactus, and thus has the cosmic powers conferred by the Devourer of Worlds. We then understand the true power of this dagger, having allowed a simple human to easily defeat such a powerful character.

However, with the revelation at the end of the comics regarding Amaryllis’ true identitywe have the right to wonder if it’s really the dagger that made it so easy to defeat Terrax, or if it has something to do with the true nature of Amaryllis’ powers. The question is even whether this weapon really comes from from the armory from Doctor Strange, or if it’s part of a larger conspiracy.
