Marvel: bad news about the introduction of the Fantastic Four in the MCU

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (mcu) continues to expand, introducing ever more new characters from marvel universemany fans are eagerly waiting for marvel studios reveals to us its own iteration of this iconic superhero teamI obviously mean the Fantastic Four. What if some had recently found clues in the trailer for the new Disney+ series Moon Knight which could indirectly involve the characters, it would seem that the project is forced to face certain difficulties.

a complicated introduction into the mcu

The MCU Phase 4 promised us a wide range of creative new productions, and some fans have not stopped looking for the smallest details that could prepare the introduction of the Fantastic Four in the film franchise. This is how fans suggested that the series Wanda vision could tease the introduction of the New York superhero team into the MCU. But recent news has compromised the project.

In effect, Deadline revealed this week that Jon Watts is stepping down from directing the film. Watts just realized Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios movie that grossed $1.89 billion and became the sixth-highest-grossing film of all time. The reason ? The director just needs a break from the world of superheroesafter completing the trilogy of Spiderman with Tom Holland and Zendaya.

It was normally expected that the Fantastic Four would be the director’s next film, being thus the third iteration of the franchise and the first since Disney bought Fox, the previous holder of the film rights. Both Watts and Marvel have officially confirmed his exit from the project, stating that it is done on an amicable basis. Kevin Feige and Louis D’Espositiorespectively chairman and co-chairman of Marvel Studiossaid on the occasion:

Collaborate with Jon on films Spiderman was a real pleasure. We were eager to continue our work with him to bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU, but we understand and support those reasons for stepping down. We are optimistic that we will have the opportunity to work together again at some point.

Watts then said:

make three movies Spiderman was an amazing and life changing experience. I am forever grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. I hope we will work together again and I can’t wait to see the incredible vision of the Fantastic Four come to fruition.

time will tell

The producers of Spiderman and Sony have made it clear that they plan to reunite Watts with Holland and Zendaya to continue the series. Watts hasn’t officially given up on this franchisebut if that were to happen, it looks like it might be in the near future.

Watts has another project that could become his next outing as a director.. Last September, Apple Studios won an auction for a film still untitled, but which should be written and directed by Watts, where we will also find George Clooney and Brad Pitt who will embody rivals who find themselves simultaneously hired for the same job. The agreement with Apple provides for the release of the film in cinemas before its launch on Apple TV+.

But whatever Watts and Feige say, it’s still a pretty bad sign for the Fantastic Four. And this is not the first time that the project has changed directors, because it was discussed for a time that the film be made by Peyton Reed. Fans of the Invisible Woman, the Thing, the Human Torch and Mr. Fantastic will therefore have to be patient, until someone else is inclined to take over the project, and finally give the Fantastic Four the movie adaptation they deserve.
