Loki: the Marvel series loses a key member for its season 2

Bad news for the fans! While filming season 2 of Loki should start in the summer of 2022, production suddenly loses a key member… What will be the consequences for the rest of the Marvel series? We take stock.

Loki, only series from Marvel Studios renewed

Landed in June 2021 on Disney+, Loki part of the Marvel Studios series the most popular to fans of the franchise. As a reminder, the plot takes place just after the events ofAvengers: Endgameor Loki steals the Tesseract at the end of the battle of New York which takes place in the film avengers (2012). He thus creates an alternate timeline… In the series, Loki uses the Tesseract to travel through time and alter human history. If he becomes the one we expect at the end of the first season, no one knows how long he will stay like that before return to his duties as God of Malice.

Loki was the only Marvel Studios series to have been renewed. Wanda Vision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, What if…?, Hawkeye or Moon Knight haven’t had that chance so far. Season 2 of Loki should tell us more about Kang the Conqueror, the antagonist expected as the next Thanos of the MCU which will be introduced in February 2023 in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Season 1 featured only one of its variants, and not the most dangerous… Future episodes should also explore the evolution of the relationship between Loki and Sylvie, another version of the character played by Sophia Di Martino. The next episodes will obviously be linked to the events that took place in Doctor Strange 2.

Season 2 of Loki loses a key member of its production

According to information held by the magazine Backstage, the filming of this sequel should begin during the summer of 2022. But now a small last-minute change could disrupt everything… Michael Waldron, the creator of Lokihas just made a more than surprising revelation to Digital Spy. In fact, it reveals that thecreative team had literally just been revamped for season 2 ! For his part, he leaves his place as chief screenwriter to Eric Martin (Heels) who had already participated in the writing of the first season. The creator will however remain attached to the executive production. Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (The Endlesss, Synchronic) will be responsible for co-direct most of the episodesafter working on Moon Knight in the same position, and will thus take over from Kate Herron.

Fans hope these changes won’t alter the quality of Loki for its second season. The various members of the production involved are, however, franchise regularsand the creator of the series always keeps a watchful eye on the decisions made for this sequel potentially expected in 2023 on Disney+!
