Author JK Rowling has been the subject of controversy for several years because of her beliefs on gender, and a series of tweets posted about it in 2020. And the latter seems to be determined again to make your voice heardwhile a bill in Scotland being discussed at this very moment doesn’t like him very much.
New Scottish law being discussed right now
JK Rowling and Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish First Minister, disagree on a gender recognition reform bill, which was introduced in Parliament last week. This bill, titled “Gender Recognition Reform Bill”, aims to simplify the means by which a transgender person can legally change their gender by obtaining a gender recognition certificate. This certificate would allow a transgender person to receive a new birth certificate, changing sex.
The current procedure for obtaining a gender recognition certificate provides that applicants must be “medically diagnosed as suffering from gender dysphoria”, go through a process of at least two years, and be over the age of 18. With the ongoing reform project, demands would ease, and the procedure would no longer require medical proof of gender dysphoria. The age of the request for procedure would also be lowered, for be able to start at 16.
JK Rowling took sides
It all starts on March 5, when the author responds to a tweet that states: “There is self-identification in my town (Melbourne, Australia). Men self-identify in sexual assault services. Say no and they take you to human rights court men. Women self-exclude. Groups implode. More services for our most vulnerable women.”. JK Rowling then declares :
Exactly this. The law @NicolaSturgeon’s trying to pass in Scotland will harm the most vulnerable women in society: those seeking help after male violence/rape and incarcerated women. Statistics show that imprisoned women are already far more likely to have been previously abused. https://t.co/LPN8cx1Vf4

That’s right. The law that @NicolaSturgeon is trying to pass in Scotland will harm the most vulnerable women in society: those seeking help after male violence/rape and women in prison. Statistics show that incarcerated women are already much more likely to have been abused before.
JK Rowling did not stop there and declared, on March 7, two days later:
Multiple women’s groups have presented well-sourced evidence to @NicolaSturgeon’s government about the likely negative consequences of this legislation for women and girls, especially the most vulnerable. All has been ignored. If the legislation is passed 1/2

Multiple groups of women have presented well-documented evidence to the government of @NicolaSturgeon about the likely negative consequences of this legislation for women and girls, especially the most vulnerable. Everything was ignored. If the legislation is passed and the resulting consequences, Scottish National Party cannot claim that he was not warned.
A position that has again caused controversy on social networks.
Transphobia assumed… it confirms that all his statements were neither clumsy nor misinterpreted. Shit is shit and remains shit

Really how important in his opinion. As long as the law is passed, let her pour out her gall at the local pub, she’ll find something to talk about
