It’s official ! Shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and that of the series Holiday Special are finally closed. The opportunity to take an interest in the plot of this third part directed by James Gunn, and in particular to the villain who will come to sow chaos in the life of Star Lord, Rocket and the others. Several clues tease the identity of the main antagonist of this sequel.

Since 2017, MCU fans have been eagerly waiting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Their patience will soon soon be rewarded since James Gunn, the director, has just announced great news : the shooting of the film is coming to be locked uplike that of the series Holiday Specialwhich is scheduled for release in December 2022 on Disney+.
For now, little information on the plot of the third installment has been revealed, but we do know that this sequel will be an opportunity to see the Guardians of the Galaxy team as we know them one last time. “It’s the end for us, the last time people will see this team of Guardians. The movie is huge and dark, and different from what they might expect. I just want to be true to the characters, to the story, and give viewers the conclusion they deserve”, had specified the director in January 2022 to Deadline. James Gunn will indeed sign the third film of the trilogy, and the characters’ future in the MCU is still uncertain.
On the side of Karen Gillan, she hopes with all her heart reprising her role as Nebula in other films in the franchise. Recently, she also asked fans of the MCU to come forward to the studios to ask that a series centered on her character be started. On the last day of filming Guardians of the Galaxy 3she demonstrated his fear of having to say goodbye to Nebula on his Instagram account: “And it’s in the box for Nebula on Guardians of the Galaxy 3! I don’t know if my character will return after this movie. It’s possible this will be the last chapter for her. If so, I wanted to thank James Gunn for giving me the opportunity to play such an interesting, complex, and fascinating character. I loved playing Nebula, more than any other character! This decade has been one hell of an adventure. Thank you all!”
This sequel should explore Rocket’s origins, but also introduce Adam Warlock, played on screen by Will Poulter. These two plots could be linked by one and the same character, who could represent the major antagonist of this sequel: the Master of Evolution (High Evolutionary in VO). For now, his introduction has not been confirmed but many clues lead us to believe that he will be the main villain. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Who is the master of evolution?
First, Chukwudi Iwuji was cast in this sequel in an unknown role. He described his protagonist as “deeply complex” and “extremely powerful”which inevitably fueled the master theory of evolution. As a bonus, several leaked photos of the shooting revealed animal-like alien characters. As a reminder, this antagonist is known for having transformed a group of animals into talking humanoid characters which he named “New Men”. he is also the creator of Adam Warlock, a being created for the purpose of designing “the perfect human”. For his part, the master of evolution is a being endowed with superhuman abilities. Strength, endurance, unequaled intelligence, gift of healing, astral projection, levitation, limitless memory… are among its attributes.
If fans are so convinced that the master of evolution will be part of the scenario of this sequel, it is first thanks to the clues revealed by the photos, second because Adam Warlock’s introduction has been confirmed by Marvel Studios. We will therefore inevitably hear about it from its creator, just like that of Rocket, a talking animal… whose origins should be explored! For now, the MCU has not explained where did the raccoon come from, nor what he had experienced in his childhood. Presenting High Evolutionary as its creator is therefore an adequate means explore Rocket’s past, even if James Gunn has already teased the idea of preparing for tragic events within this sequel… Could one of our main heroes die within the third installment? It is better to prepare for the departure of one or more characters, because recently, it was Dave Bautista, the interpreter of Drax, who announced that his contract with Marvel ended at the end of this third part. It is therefore certain, the group of Guardians consisting of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel) will never be shown as before.
