Elden Ring: a speedrunner achieves the feat of completing the game in less than 50 minutes (video)

Last February 25 came out Elden Ring, the latest from FromSoftware studios. A title with a full-bodied difficulty that tests both regulars of the genre and more casual players. A gigantic open world that continues to grow despite the hours of play, enough to satisfy the biggest players. Only, barely out, Elden Ring must already suffer the wrath of speedrunners, with a current world record below the 50-minute mark.

/! Warning, the following contains spoilers for Elden Ring/!

a world record at 49 minutes and 29 seconds

It was to be expected, the speedrunners are already trying to finish Elden Ring as quickly as possible. Although the categories have not yet been erected, the most eager speedrunners put their skills to the test against the bosses. Tall challenges that don’t stop them, especially when these veterans of FromSoftware games have already supplanted the terrors of Demons Soulsfrom the trilogy of Dark Soulsof Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice or Bloodborne. Released almost two weeks ago, Elden Ring has already revealed its superb performance to the speedrunners, who are working on their side to achieve the best possible time.

The goal is simple: finish the game. Since Elden Ring has different endings, speedrunners strive to align with the fastest ending to approach. And on the side of Distortion2, a famous speedrunner, things are going well. In a video posted on March 10, 2022, gaming veteran FromSoftware proved he was able to complete Elden Ring in less than 50 minutes. A stopwatch stopped after 49 minutes and 29 seconds which can still be improved: it remains to be seen how long this record will last.

Distortion2 is no ordinary gamer, the speedrunner having set several records in FromSoftware games. His track record is made up of several first and second places, a multitude of top 10s in various categories. The Souls have tasted his talent for years, the time has come for Elden Ring to deal with it as well.
