Since June 2015, fans of dragonball can discover the rest of the adventures of Goku and his gang in Dragon Ball Super. Ever more powerful characters face ever more dangerous threats, issues that now threaten the different universes of this world imagined by Akira Toriyama. And recently, Cell’s new form was unveiled.

In Dragon Ball Super, the characters regularly get new forms. Goku and his Super Saiyan God or even Vegeta and his Ultra Ego, the power gains of the characters tend to be immortalized by new transformations. The opportunity for long-time fans to discover an incessant flow of novelties, which Akira Toriyama uses to justify his plot with a new welcome transformation. But when the colors are starting to run out for the ever shaggy haircuts of the Saiyans, now Piccolo was able to present his new transformation via the movie poster Dragon Ball Super: Super Herothe next feature film in the franchise.
Whether in the manga or in derivative works, the transformations are linked. And while readers thought they were done with Cell, especially after its reappearance in Dragon Ball Super in the “Future Trunks Saga” arc, the main antagonist of Dragon Ball Z returns to the charge again with yet another transformation. Dr. Gero’s creation is a regular at shapeshifting, yet another transformation is nothing out of the ordinary. Only, this umpteenth transformation does not occur in the context of manga, anime or a film but of the collectible card game dragonball. A canon card game that just introduced Cell’s new form, dubbed “Awakened”.

A form that resembles the Super Perfect Cell and should therefore complete the new collectible card set. A mixed comeback from the dead for Cell, which is met with both concern from fans wanting to see new characters introduced, and hope from those curious to see Cell in a movie Dragon Ball Super. The creation of Dr. Gero, however, does not seem to have taken the direction of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the next film in the franchise, whose release date has been postponed following the Toei hack. Let’s hope that the situation improves for this film initially expected for this month in Japan.
