Doctor Strange: this scene from the first film would tease the end of Multiverse of Madness

At what point the Marvel Cinematic Universe is it connected? Sometimes we really feel like Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are playing a game of chess where moves are planned years in advance. And for some fans, The first movie Doctor Strange is the perfect example.

A scene from the first film that now takes on a different look

When Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) goes to Kamar-Taj for the first time after his hand injury, in the first Doctor Stangethis last receives a crash course in magic and mysticism dispensed by the Elder (played by Tilda Swinton). Arrogant Stephen Strange then doesn’t believe in mysticism until the Elder realizes an astral projection.

In this same sequence, the Elder declares :

You observe the world through a keyhole. You always wanted to expand it, see more, know more. And learning that we can do it, in ways unimaginable, you refuse the possibility.

For some MCU fansthis scene foreshadows the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The “third eye” is an essential part of many Eastern cultures and religions, and so one might wonder if the first movie Doctor Strange included this scene as a specific omen, or just general advice on how open Strange’s mind might be, and his vision may expand in the long run.

The doctor strange 2 post-credits scene

In view of what happens when from the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it’s pretty believable to think that Feige and the rest of Marvel Studios planned things out from the start. Call out Charlize Theron to embody Clea and have Doctor Strange (equipped with a third eye) follow her in the dark dimension, that’s a big step forward. Indeed, in the comics, Cléa is the great love of Stephen, and the fact of having put an end to his relationship with Christina in Doctor Strange 2 thus foreshadows another romance to come. Also, if you want to know more on Cléa in the comicsyou can read our previous article on the subject.

There are also a lot of correlations that make it seem more than a coincidence. The Elder was shown to possess wisdom and vision that stretches across time. The Elder also had a kind of “third eye” (a demonic mark between his eyes, the result of extracting his power from the Dark Dimension). Everything could therefore well have been planned in advance, unless everything went perfectly well. What do you think, on your side?
