Some fans instead observers then noticed a curious retailthus suggesting the return of this character supposed to be dead.

an unexpected return?

Acclaimed director James Cameron has been working on the film’s sequel for over a decade. Avatar from 2009. And while the trailer just dropped this week, it’s already racking up an impressive number of views according to Disney and 20th Century Fox, suggesting that there are plenty of fans interested in the sequel.

This week, fans were able to get their first glimpse of Avatar 2revealing the wonderful places of the planet Pandora, as well as a number of Na’vi and human characters. And precisely, among these Na’vi, there is one in particular that seems strangely familiar to fans of the first film, which suggests that this terrible character could well make a return.

The way of the water takes place more than ten years after the events of the first film, which means that a lot may have changed in the relationship between humans and the natives of Pandora, in many ways. The trailer seemed to show the collaboration of some humans working alongside the Na’vi, but also of some Na’vi who seemed to act in the pay of humans. And among these Na’vi, there are some who are recognizable, in particular thanks to his tattoo which he wears on his arm.

Check out this tattoo in the Avatar: Path of Water trailer…

Fans have noticed that the tattoo in question, which represents an eagle, turns out to be exactly the same as the one worn by Colonel Miles Quaritch, the main antagonist of the first part. If we already knew that Stephen Lang, the actor who plays the character, was back in the cast of Avatar 2fans thought the character would make a comeback through flashbacks. Because Colonel Quaritch is supposed to be dead at the end of the 2009 filmpierced by several arrows by Neytiri while the latter was trying to protect her lover.

We can then clearly see the Na’vi in question twice in the trailer. A first time when he sinks into the forest of Pandora in the company of another Na’vi soldier, then a second time when he turns around in the middle of the action scene, exposing his tattoo in a visible way.

If the end of the first part suggested that Colonel Quaritch was dead, fantastic technology present in the world of Avatar means almost anything is possible. The colonel’s spirit could have been recovered and then transferred into the body of a Na’vi for example, especially since ten years have passed, thus leaving the field open to all possible speculation.
