Surviving Xenomorphs is not easy, even Rick and Morty demonstrated it. Today we invite you to discover why these terrifying creatures do not have eyes. This is a fact accepted by everyone, and yet some ignore how the Xenomorphs proceed to live without this sense which is so important to humanity.

Thanks to the iconic work of artists like HR Gigerthe Xenomorphs ofAlien have a unique and spooky design. The heads of these creatures lack ears or eyes (at least, by our human standards). A frightening choice, which nevertheless raises the question of how the latter “smell” or manage to distinguish their prey. Some of the comics of the era Dark Horse offer an answer to this question. And we offer you more specifically to interest us at the comics Aliens: Hivewritten by Jerry Prosser and drawn by Kelley Jones.
The story focuses on a thief who seeks to steal jelly from a Xenomorph queen, the most valuable commodity in the galaxy. To do this, the thief in question turns to a scientist known for having developed tiny android ants, capable of to infiltrate a hive undetected. The thief has a similar plan to achieve his ends: successfully develop a Xenomorph android in order to sneak into the alien hive, and steal the jelly.
The scientist therefore develops, at the request of the thief, the Xenomorph android to function the same as a real Xenomorph, and even uses it to train the thief to avoid the threats they pose. The comics indeed specify that a Xenomorph does not use human senses as we know them. Instead, they use what are called “old senses”. The old senses include, for example, the fact of feeling tenfold the vibrations, the electricity, and fear in the form of pheromones. This part of the Xenomorphs story is used later in the comic in question, when the main team became able to hide their presence in the hive by disrupting their own pheromones, rendering them undetectable, despite being clearly visible to beings who use sight.

The comics Dark Horse depicted a rich world in which Xenomorphs had become a reality and were the subject of many forms of creativity. The ability to mask pheromones and use the senses of the Xenomorphs Against Them made for some heart-pounding moments, but it’s the other senses the creatures suggest (thus making them susceptible to movement, life, and fear) that make them scarier than ever. As predators, the Xenomorphs inspire abject terror, so it is normal that they use this emotion to hunt their prey. Here is why the latter do not need eyes to hunt their prey.
