Comedian Josh Brolin, who has played the mighty Thanos since the second avengers, recently spoke about a possible return of his character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He said he was open to any new proposal from Marvel Studios and is rather inclined to take on the role of the mad titan once again.
Thanos: an iconic villain
Josh Brolin portrayed Thanos in four times in the MCU. First the time of short appearances in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 and in Avengers: Age of Ultronbefore becoming the main antagonist of Avengers: Infinity War and of Avengers: Endgame. Indeed, if Thanos also appears briefly in the first avengers, at the time it was not Josh Brolin who portrayed the character, but comedian and stuntman Damion Poitier.
At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thanos and all his minions go up in smoke after Iron Man successfully uses the Infinity Gauntlet. Logically, the Mad Titan will no longer bother humanity and more broadly the entire galaxy. But a return of the character is always possible. Either through some flashback like Marvel has already done with characters like Black Widow or Ronan the Accuser. Either in the multiverse for example on the occasion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Josh Brolin is in
In a recent appearance at Jess Cagle ShowJosh Brolin referred to a possible return of Thanos in the MCU. In any case, he confirmed that he would return if Marvel Studios asked him:
I don’t know where they’re coming from, no. It’s not that I’m not interested. They have their own trajectory that worries them and if they want me to do it, I’m sure I would, but I don’t know what they think.
Currently, there is apparently no no plans for a possible return of Thanos in the MCU. However, there are a few possibilities to see his possible comeback. Fans could possibly cross him in season 2 of What If…?, but also in The Eternals 2 or even in a future project still kept secret around the multiverse.
