The better your phone performs, the more its battery melts like snow in the sun! In this article, the Leenkus editorial staff reveals some simple actions to adopt to reduce the energy consumption of your smartphone. Read the guide!
Smartphone: activate energy saving mode
Indeed, when your battery turns red, it’s the first survival reflex to draw! Available on all Android smartphones, this power saving mode automatically restricts certain phone features.
For example, it interrupts the use of GPS when the screen goes to sleep or deactivates Bluetooth. Small details which, put end to end, will avoid running out of fuel!
In fact, to trigger this function, go to “Settings”, then “Battery” and finally to “Enable Saver”. To deactivate it, you will therefore have to go to the same place.
Use adaptive charging options
For 3 years, Android smartphones have incorporated a so-called adaptive battery. In fact, the latter automatically detects applications that are too greedy and closes them if they are used in the background. In other words, if they consume data when you no longer use them.
Still in the “Settings, choose” the “Battery” menu, then check the “Adaptive battery” mention.
Smartphone: Switch to dark mode
If you have a mid or high-end smartphone, your screen is now likely to be OLED. You therefore have the option in this case of activating the dark mode feature.
It will then improve the autonomy of your phone. This by changing the background color of your system to black. As a result, your device will use fewer pixels on the display and therefore less energy.
Go to “Settings”, then to the “Display” tab. We remind you that you can also plan its activation and deactivation at the times of your choice. For example, we recommend using it when it is dark to improve visibility.
Take advantage of automatic brightness
Constantly leaving your smartphone on maximum brightness is highly energy-consuming. From now on, it is necessary during the day and in direct sunlight to see your screen properly.
In all other cases, we therefore advise you to activate automatic brightness. Your device intelligently adjusts its light level based on the lighting conditions in your environment. Go to the “Display” menu of “Settings”, and choose the option “Auto-adapt”.
Disable your Smartphone’s voice assistant
If you don’t use the Google Assistant, you should turn it off to avoid unnecessary power consumption.
In your “Google” application, open the “More” tab, then “Settings” and finally “Voice”. And then disable the “Access with Voice Match” option. From now on, when you say “OK Google”, your smartphone will remain unmoved.
Reduce auto-lock duration
You have now understood this. The screen is the most energy-consuming component of a smartphone. Last tip to limit its activity, make sure that it stays on for as little time as possible when you are no longer using your device.
First go to “Settings”. Then access the “Display” menu, “Advanced options” and finally “Sleep”. Finally, select the minimum time before standby, that is to say 15 seconds.
