Since October 2021, French shonen lovers can discover Kaiju #8, the new phenomenon from Japan. In Kaiju #8, readers follow the daily life of Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old man employed in a cleaning company in Kaijus. These monsters of unknown origin have been appearing there for several decades without logical reason and destroying cities, ports and other human bases there. Absolute chaos that the Kaiju Defense Force, an elite unit, strives to combat. And of course, after each fight, someone has to clean up the mess and the pieces. This someone is Kafka. His dream is not to clean the intestines of Kaiju stuck to the pavement, but to go to the other side, namely to join this prestigious institution. But despite his efforts, Kafka does not succeed. A problem that will go away when the young man will transform himself into Kaiju.

Over the volumes, readers of Kaiju #8 were able to discover several twists. The first is obviously Kafka’s new condition, now half-human, half-Kaiju. The second is undoubtedly his arrival in the ranks of the Defense Force against the Kaijus. A success met in Japan as in France, where it becomes the manga associated with the best launch in history with 22,000 copies of the first volume sold in one week.
