One Piece chapter 1044: the first images of the impressive transformation of [SPOILERS] are there

Since the release of Chapter 1043 of One Piecemore than ever, fans of the mangaEiichiro Oda are impatient to discover the rest of the adventures of Luffy in the Straw Hat. Good news for the most impatient: the first images of Captain Pirate’s transformation come from leaks on the internet.

WARNING SPOILERS START HERE. The Battle of Onigashima is coming to an end. As Zoro Roronoa and Sanji Vinsmoke floored their respective opponents, King and Queen, and the Trafalgar Law/Eustass Kidd duo managed to beat Empress Big Mom, her counterpart Kaido knocked down Straw Hat Luffy for the third time, knocked unconscious after a powerful attack of the Captain of the Hundred Beasts Crew.

However, unexpectedly, giant elephant Zunesh claims to hear the drums of liberation for the first time in 800 years, signifying the return of Joy Boy. As he says this, Luffy cracks a gigantic grin as he begins to transform.

A particularly striking chapter, which signs a real turning point in the history of Eiichiro Oda’s manga. Indeed, while the characters of Luffy and Joy Boy are at the heart of many mysteries (we will come back to this later in the article), this revelation will have many consequences for the rest of the events.

Scheduled for this Sunday, March 27, 2022 in French after a week’s break, chapter 1044 was released in Japan in Weekly Shonen Jump on Monday, March 21, 2022. In this last image, we can see that this transformation was soberly called Gear 5 by Eiichiro Oda. From there to seeing further proof that the Devil Fruit that Luffy absorbed is truly special (and arguably related to Joy Boy himself), it’s only a short step, considering the Gear are techniques that Luffy developed through his Devil Fruit.

For the curious who clicked on this article, without being particularly aware of the various mysteries that fascinate the fans, we remind you that Joy Boy is a particularly mysterious character, having lived during the Forgotten Century which terrifies the World Government so much.. It is mentioned in the Poneglyphs. Rich in treasures, Joy Boy was admired by Gol D. Roger centuries later. The latter was also looking for Joy Boy’s treasure.
